Roboré canton is located at the eastern end of the province of Chiquitos, 400 km from Santa Cruz to the Sierra.Ses municipal boundaries are to the North by the municipalities of San Matías and San José de Chiquitos, to the South by the municipality of Charagua, is the town of Puerto Suarez and West by the municipality of San José de Chiquitos.

The municipality of Roboré arises in the 20th century as an outpost military and consolidated later as a major railway hub.The city has a center of mission, community of Santiago de Chiquitos, reduced by the Jesuits founded 1754 year.

According to the 2001 census, the total population is 15 240 inhabitants Roboré.65% of the population lives in the City municipality and the remaining 35% live in rural areas.

Its population has increased due to the migration flows of various regions of the country and abroad (mainly Brazil) .the population is essentially originating Roboré region (Chiquitano and Ayoreode), but also include Quechua and Aymara immigrants.

Roboré has abundant water, rivers, creeks, permanent and seasonal resources, which are central to their tourisme.Malgré, water availability is not homogeneous in their geographic or temporal distribution, and in certain periods of the year there are water shortages in some areas of the municipality.

Roboré has different types of tourist resources such as leisure and entertainment, ethnic, cultural, ethnic, religious, scenic, environmental, Jesuit missionaries, recreation, ecological, florists and endemic species.
